The law of giving and receiving

The law of giving and receiving is a natural law. Like the law of gravity, it is no respecter of persons. It holds for the young and old, rich and poor, and all races and religious persuasions. When you give, you receive. The measure of what you give determines the measure with which you receive. It is simply a matter of time.

In the previous article, we saw that giving is about adding value. That means if you want to receive, you need to add value. Many people start out in business trying to make money, i.e. their focus is on receiving. Many want to make money on the Internet. They look at the internet as a gold mine and are trying to figure out how to get their own piece of the action.

Truth is, there is money to be made everywhere. There are enough resources on the planet to make everyone a millionaire. The interesting thing is that as you are looking for money, money is looking for you. Money is looking for givers who have set themselves up for receiving. As you add value and make a difference, you are giving. As you give, you set in motion the law of giving and receiving.

The law of giving and receiving can work for you or against you. When you focus on receiving without adding value, the law of giving and receiving acts against you. You can ask all you want, beg, or whatever, but nothing will happen. You will end up wasting valuable time, the time you would have used to improve your skill in giving, and set up yourself for receiving at the next level.

When you think about only yourself, you have a client base made up of one person, and with only one person patronizing you, getting rich is a tough proposition. When you focus on others, how to solve others’ problems, how to make their lives easier, how to add value to their experience, and developing products and services to meet identified needs, you are setting the law of giving and receiving to work for you.

As you keep giving, you start receiving. As you step up your giving, setting up systems to serve even more people, you expand your domain of receiving. As you progress, you get to the level of not only meeting the needs of your customers but giving back to society by helping the poor. When you get to this place, it fully dawns on you that it is indeed more blessed to give than receive.
