Where Did Your Ideas Go?

Hundreds, maybe thousands of thoughts and ideas float through our minds every blessed day. Once in a while, these are breakthrough ideas, that if followed through will make us stupendously rich. While we are aware of some of them, others get drowned out by the noise of everyday living. We differ in how we handle ideas that come to us. While some of them wait for them eagerly and snap them up immediately, most of us are either faintly aware of them or blissfully unaware.

Ideas are very delicate and have a short shelf life. They come, float around for a moment, and if not captured, are gone, sometimes for good. Most of us cannot give an account of all the ideas we have been blessed with, because we do not write them down. We store some in our heads, and after a while, we have difficulty remembering them.

Ideas are a terrible thing to waste. Within them lies solutions to our problems. A lot of folks have no clue what type of business they are good at. They need someone to tell them what business they should go into. Others know what business they should go into, but lack ideas on how to finance their dream and get the business off the drawing board. If you have money but lack ideas on how to put it to work, like a fool and his money, you will soon part ways.

In each case, what is lacking is ideas. Every problem or challenge has a solution. For some folks, challenges is what gives them the adrenaline rush. You get their juices running when you mention the word impossible. They thrive in overcoming challenges.

A lot of people believe that it is impossible to start a business without capital. That is what the textbook says. Hundreds of billionaires have done just that, starting out with little or nothing. Ideas command resources; money flows towards ideas. Ideas rule the world. If you cannot harness the ideas that God daily blesses you with, you consign yourself to a life of perpetual slavery, working for people with ideas.

Nothing stifles the free flow of ideas like impossibility thinking. If you believe it is not possible, you are right. You lock your mind and rule out the possibility of a solution.

I have come to realize that my most precious asset is my mind. Out of the mind flows the issues of life. With the mind, you conceive great things. Having a sound mind is very critical if you are to fulfill your potential and achieve financial freedom. It is much better to starve your tummy (and hopefully lose weight) than starve your mind.

Once in a while, an idea comes to me, and due to distractions, I forgot to write it down, and find myself fighting to recall what it was. It is a very painful experience. Ideas come to you at very odd times and places. My favorite thinking range is my bathroom. I can spend hours there on Saturday mornings, allowing my mind to roam free, and writing the ideas as they come. This is when I receive most of the ideas I play with during the week.

Of course, not all ideas are made of gold. You have to sieve it and decide the ones to pursue. Some of the ideas come from your subconscious mind, which is hard at work while your conscious mind is dealing with everyday affairs. Sometimes, these ideas drop straight from heaven, pointing the way forward in the midst of confusion.

Like money that passes through your hands, you have to give a good account of ideas that float through your mind. Your success will depend on what you did with these ideas
