Step out from your comfort zone

Comfort zone and excuses

We are often trapped in prison called the comfort zone with wardens called excuses. Each time we try to break free, excuses holds us back. This is why we sit back in our comfy couches with the assurance that something will not work. We have not attempted it, but we are sure it will fail.

We all love the comfort zone. Stepping out of one comfort zone does not mean you are free. We soon turn our new destination to another comfort zone.

Many personal finance questions I get are from the comfort zone. It is from a place of not having taken action. Very few tell me they did this and had this challenge. The want all the traffic lights along the route to go green before they step out.

We were not meant to settle. We are to keep moving. For sure goals get achieved and dreams come true and you stop to enjoy the victory. If you stay too long, it becomes another comfort zone. Stepping out becomes another challenge.

It is time to forget about the ‘if only’s’ and move on with what you have now. Tony Robbins, world famous peak performance coach has one funny question he asks those stuck in a web of excuses. ‘When will now be a good time to start …’.

Stepping out of your comfort zone – you can do it again

Now is all you will ever have. Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow is a promise. You can only take action now.

If you look back 10, 20, 30 years, you will realize you have come a long way. You took many risks. You took bold decisions. It has brought you to where you are now. Nothing has changed. You are still the same person. If you did it before, you can do it again.

A time will never come whereby you will feel no fear. Just do it anyway. Take one small step, then another. Don’t be fixed on one spot. Your financial goals and aspirations won’t just happen while you do nothing.

Don’t remain ensconced in your sitting room couch propounding doomsday scenarios. There is only one way to find out if it will work. Just do it.
