Attaining financial freedom is not mysterious. The roadmap to financial freedom can be summarized thus; discover yourself. Be the person you were born to be, and do the work you were born to do. If you can know who you really are at the core, and do what gives you utmost joy and fulfillment, you are well on your way to financial freedom. It is only a matter of time.
A round peg in a round hole, if it is the right size, slides in effortlessly. A square peg will need to labor, pant, sweat, and get damaged around the edges as it struggles to squeeze into the wrong slot.
Finding your groove in life is like a marriage made in heaven; a union where true love is backed by resources to enjoy the splendor that the earth offers. If you don’t love what you do, you are in the wrong place, no matter how highly paid you are or how much money you make. Like a loveless marriage, you have two choices; endure or get out.
If you are a freshwater fish, fresh water is where you belong, not land, sea, or aquarium. The journey begins by discovering yourself.
With the all-pervasive influence of money, it becomes hard to see things clearly without money intruding. Money-based decisions have sent many on the wrong road.
Create your roadmap to financial freedom
Imagine for a moment that your fairy godmother shows up, and with her magic wand wipes away your bill, debts, and all. Not only that, she deposits 10 Million dollars in your account and announces that you are free to quit your job and go do what you really love to do. With bills and debt out of the equation, think about your dream day at work.
Where are you? and what are you doing?
Are you:
At home in your home office,
Out in the field painting, landscaping, etc
In your office managing your business a few blocks from your home
In a high-rise downtown, commuting daily by train or your personal car
With wildlife in the forests or under the sea
Etc etc etc
Create your dream, no holds barred. Take a walk on the wild side…
Stop for a while and create your dream in the canvass of your mind. Remain here until you figure out what your dream is. Imprint this image in the canvass of your mind, and never let it go away.
Now back to reality:
Are you living your dream?
If the answer is no, you have lost your way. The next step is to simply find your way home. Forget about who is to blame; what your father or mother did, what your uncle or aunt did, what the oppressors did to your people etc.
After finding out what you really love to do, the next step developing yourself along these lines. Start deploying yourself to the benefit of others. You may not afford the luxury of quitting your job immediately. You can start your journey while holding unto your day job. Better still, you can find another job that fits your passion, and start doing what you love.
As you begin to excel in doing what you love, excellence will position you where money will find you. Do not give in to the temptation to follow a shortcut to financial freedom. Simply discover yourself and use your head to follow your heart. The rest will become history.
